Cables & Bobbles

So what the heck have I been making? Hmm...I think I have about 7 projects on the needles, including another pair of Springgrass Socks that I had to rip back because I messed up on the first repeat and then knit all the way to the heel before noticing, oops!

Lately I have been craving something with texture, you know cabley and bobbly? I started on Forecast on Saturday. There are some really pretty versions out there. So far so good, though I am not sure that my decision about sizing and ease is going to work out for me. And I am not worrying a bit about it because I am loving watching it all knit up, and the color makes me happy.

Once you get going on the raglan increases you can pretty much memorize the pattern and follow the stitches. it's garter stitch, but it's reverse garter stitch (a lot of purling, which I don't mind a bit) and I am really happy with the no-turn-bobble instructions I am using, and the smaller 3-stitch bobble. Well, other than that moment when I noticed I skipped a bobble, because it's not like you can drop down and pick up a bobble, you do have to rip back.

Not too bad for my first bobbles and cables. I even knit a bunch at a meeting last night without a cable needle. And now I'm far enough along to put the sleeves stitches on holders and continue with the body, whee! Not bad for four days knitting.

It's looking lovely! This was the first sweater I ever knit. I wasn't sure about the ease either, but garter stitch is squashy and stretchy, and it fits well.
