Sockapalooza, Lucky Me!

There was a package on the porch today. Could it be? It is, my Sockapalooza socks, from Jennie of BegKnitter's Knotty Mess, all the way from Staffordshire, England!

Aren't they lovely? (I wish I had a better shot, and see the little toes that really wanted to be in the picture?) The color is a pretty pink-red, like cochineal dye, my favorite yarn color, and the fit is perfect! I am guessing that the pattern is Waving Lace, which was on my to-do list, how did she pick something so perfect for me? And talk about a great stretchy cuff and really beautiful knitting.

These are my first ever pair of handknit socks, what a treat. Regardless of the 80 degree weather I am keeping them on today and enjoying the soft luxurious comfort of a perfectly fitting pair of socks. Plus tasty apple candies and a book about Staffordshire, what a great sock pal, thanks so much!

Fabulous Loot!

Where have I been? Well, my iron broke, so that pretty much means no sewing. And I am working exclusively on some crochet for Easter, so no knitting.

Plus my daughter has been sick most of the week so not much happening here besides delirious fever talk and a trip to the ER. Luckily she is on the mend.

But for some exciting news, there was a lovely package on my porch today, a swap from the very generous and talented Brooke! Really, I am overwhelmed! She made a dress for one daughter, a top for the other (both fit great by the way!), a bunny scarf, and a little stuffed cutie. My girls are thrilled! I wish I had more pictures but my camera is not cooperating.

And for me, a selection of pretty fabrics! Did she remember my comments about the brown corduroy? And some iron-on hem tape, yay, something to make hemming easier.

Brooke, thanks so much, you are a superstar!
