The Other L-Word
Well, it finally happened. I have two kids in school and one way or another they both caught the hair bugs. So we are under a strict program of hair combing and massive amounts of laundry. I suppose this should be embarrassing? I don't have the energy for shame after rounding up every soft toy, blanket & coat and sealing them in bags.

No, you shouldn't be embarassed at all. It happens to all kids - no matter their race, socioeconomic standing, etc. It can be easily picked up just by hanging their coat next to someone with it. No fun for you though!
If it makes you feel any better, the school nurse told me that lice actually prefer clean hair. so it is not a sign of uncleanliness, just bad luck :(
