Ode to Picture Knits

People often say to me, is your life really crazy? And I say, why, yes...yes it is! I am trying to figure out how to balance a part time job, working one day a week at kindergarten, working one day a week at preschool, being the head of the preschool fundraising committee, and being the sewing coordinator at kindergarten. I am sure other people's lives are just a different version of crazy, right? I don't know but I sometimes feel like I really suck at this.

On to the fun... Have I ever shared my love of vintage picture knits? Well, I adore them. Knit O Graf, Mary Maxim, you name it, if it's from the 50s or 60s and it's a picture knit, well I am a sucker for it. Which is not to say that I have actually knit anything of this particular genre. A while back I had a pattern buying binge on eBay.

Something for the adults:

And the icing on the cake, bonnets for girls, "helmets" for boys! And if you're afraid of your little boy looking like a sissy, how about a handgun helmet, circa 1952? Too bad it's not sized to go with the deer sweater.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a soft wool yarn at 6 stitches to the inch on US#3s? I really want to make the plaid bonnet!

Jeez, those are funny. I can't imagine a time when it would have been cool to wear a "helmet" with a gun knitted into the side.

And I hear you on feeling like you suck at this--not that I think you suck even remotely--but sometimes it really feels like my grownup suit doesn't fit very well. I try to believe that everybody feels that way, and probably no one notices too much when I screw up, since they're so preoccupied with how they're screwing up too. At least that's what I tell myself... Here's hoping!

LOL Oh my gosh! That gun helmet would go well with that deer sweater. I might be laughing for a while at this one :)

You don't suck--you are doing too much to suck! You are managing amazingly well with the amount of stuff you're doing!

The pics are hilarious.
