I was peeking through Debbie New's Unexpected Knitting at the library last night and noticed that she's made some three-dimensional stars to decorate a christmas tree. This looks exactly like a point from one of her stars, but I don't imagine that she crocheted them, since her book is about knitting. So anyway, I'm going to say that you're crocheting a hedgehog point by point.
