Computer Woes and Sad Mittens

It's been ages, I know, sorry about that. My computer needs a new motherboard, and apparently that takes an indeterminate amount of time(?) The last I checked my repair had been "escalated"...which apparently means, we'll give it a new name that means we can't tell you when you will get it back, but we swear it's now a high-priority case. So here is a short post and I keep hoping to have a real working computer soon.

I give you...my first finished object that I knit as an adult, my best estimate is that this was about 10 years ago. A glutton for a challenge, I knit the 2 color Onion Dome Mittens in Peace Fleece wool for my husband (at the time my boyfriend) as a Christmas gift, circa 1996 or so. This was a real accomplishment (or a real act of love) as I had only completed a single one-color garter knit scarf as a child and had not ever touched a DPN.

Not every man is manly enough to pull off mittens, and this man was good enough to humor my efforts. My dear friend Barbara coached me through what was an obvious challenge for my then-limited knitting skills. I recently found these mittens misplaced in my laundry area and they had apparently sat around wet for some time as they are quite rotten and falling apart. I still have this pattern and it's about time I started on a new pair.

A motherboard can be a pretty big deal since it's practically the brains of the whole operation, hope you get it back quickly! =)

Sorry about the computer issues....they are almost as important as our thumbs and it is awful when they are sick.

Sorry to hear about the computer. I have been luck I guess, having never had a motherboard die on me. These days, if a computer is more than a couple years old or off warranty, it's usually cheaper to buy a whole new computer than fix the broken MB. Good luck on the fix!
