I can't manage to get anyone to take my picture in my new sweater, so this is as good of a shot as I can offer, taken in the mirror at my mom's house. The light discoloration on one sleeve is a flaw on her vintage mirror, not a funny spot on the sweater!
I love this sweater, can I tell you how thrilled I am? It is my first completed adult sweater and this feels like a real accomplishment. I have worn this pretty much every day since I sewed in the ends on Thanksgiving. The garter stitch is very stretchy and it's a very comfortable and cozy sweater.
My cast-off is a bit tight, and any smaller and I wouldn't be able to pull it over my head, but I doubt I'll fix it. This sweater has no shaping to speak of, and it is designed to have no ease or a little positive ease, but it came out a little under for me, and it wanted to stretch vertically with blocking, which enhances the close fit. Frankly, if it hadn't grown in length it would feel a bit short for my taste, which is funny because I think of myself as being a bit short-waisted. Your mileage may vary depending on your torso length.
This was an easy pattern, with alternating rows of knit and purl in the round to make garter stitch, and a small section of fan pattern. The fan patten was easy to follow without consulting the pattern after the first repeat. But I'm not suggesting that I didn't mess up. I did, many times, especially with the whole paying attention to whether I was on a knit or purl row. And I did have to ask for help about when to do the decreases at one point, because my ability to follow direction is sometimes lacking, but once I got that bit sorted out it was a fast 15 days of knitting, and considering I took a 3 or 4 day break in there it was incredibly fast!
I think it looks great, and I have gotten a bunch of compliments from knitters and non-knitters, so I'd call this a winner! Yay me!
Camilla Pullover
3 1/2 skeins Cascade 220 (2 from the thrift store, 2 from the LYS. Different dye lots, but it's not apparent, and talk about a cheap sweater, I spent, I forget 16 or 18 bucks on yarn!
size 10 1/2 DPNs and circular needle
followed directions for size 37, but I knew my gauge would make it a few inches smaller, and knit a smaller sleeve (40 stitches)
