Leper Bandage Scarf
I could bore you with a tedious update about my new unimproved busy life. Let's just say my three year old asked me yesterday, "Momma, are we ever not going to be in a hurry?"
On to the knitting. Look, it's not socks! This scarf is the Leper Bandage pattern I featured a while back, for as much as that qualifies as a pattern. At first I though, well, I can't make that as a scarf, it's just too icky of a connotation. But a dear friend reminded me that it's actually a really positive connotation. The power of all of the women around the world making something handmade to help so many sick people.
Do you ever feel like making a garter stitch pattern is just too apologetically simple? I thought about it, but I think it suits this lovely soft Malabrigo. Plus a big stretchy garter stitch merino scarf feels great. And it's such a happy color.
This yarn was purchased in Chicago, knit into the Grownup Bonnet (let's not dwell on that disaster!), and then frogged and knit into this scarf.
Edited to add:
Needle size US 8
1 3/4 skeins Malabrigo
25 stitches, just like the original pattern

just wondering how many stitches across your scarf is... and what size needles... because i totally want to copy you and make a garter stitch scarf out of my purple malabrigo.
imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?
Sometimes simple is just what we need.
Great photos.
Mmm....malabrigo! Beautiful color and scarf!
I hear you on the 'hurry' thing and I love your scarf.
Wow, those really are great photos!
ack. hurrying- I feel like hurry is "the new black"- at least in my life. Love the scarf- makes me want to run and whip out the Malabrigo I have stashed... guess I'll have to hurry and finish my wips :)
thanks for the details! i started my scarf this evening. photos coming tomorrow...
the scarf looks great, and what great things you have found in the thrift store.
