Vintage Goodies!

Last week I turned 39. Yep, I'm getting up there, I know. Anyhow, my little sister sent me a package with the sweetest little knitting book that she picked up for me at the thrift store, from the 20's no less!

Oh, vintage patterns, why do I love you so? I love the fitted feminine shapes, which flatter my hourglass shape. I love the artwork or the photography, and the design choices.

I love these pictures...

And something else I am loving so much, the reissued knitting book, A Stitch In Time, Knitting and Crochet Patterns, 1920-1949 Vol. 1, by Jane Waller and Susan Crawford.

Some of my favorites from this book are Frilly Sleeves(ravelry link) and It Cannot Fail to Please(ravelry link) and To Greet the New Season(ravelry link). This last pattern has a lot of ties, and I think that skipping the other ties and doing just a waist tie would look lovely. I did find the 70's version of this book at the Downtown library, but it's the original patterns in one size, and the new book has multiple sizes for each pattern. If only I could justify about $45, and really, this book looks so totally worth the price.

Your new gifty book looks awesome. And that Stitch in Time is spendy but there are so many patterns in it.
